Ruby Usman

Ruby was born in the slums of Karachi, Pakistan. She has experienced sexual abuse at the hands of many men as a child; some of them strangers and others, close family members. She grew up as a Muslim woman and experienced violence as an integral part of society and culture. She now writes about these traditions and hopes that by starting these debates, a new face of Islam is revealed. A new Islam with love, compassion and forgiveness for ALL irrespective of their gender, race and colour.

    Amazing, every one has issue in life but the way we deal with them that makes a huge difference in our lives, choices is ours do we want to be a victim for rest of the life and we can create a space for our selves and love our selves…. one thing I believe we do need support from others to pull through, just by reading Sarah story I got so much learning, support and courage.. Ruby doing good job !!!

    Wow, makes compelling reading. 6 points stand out.
    1. Abuse is 99% of the time committed by family members or people known to the family
    2. Therapy is part of the solution and family support is crucial
    3. The willingness to let go of the past, and start regaining control of the mind and body should come from within the person who as experienced abuse.
    4. Time is the essence, healing takes time
    5. Perseverance is key to success. To never Give up should be the end Goal
    6. General awareness has now increased across the Globe from what it was 15 years ago.
